The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Hristina Odzaklieska, participated in the regional business forum “Western Balkans in 2030 and beyond” in Belgrade, in the panel dedicated to the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
According to her, the economic and energy crisis the world is facing has shown how important it is for a country to be independent and economically stable.
- It strengths our ambitions for realizing the planned green transition as part of the Green Agenda. As a country, we have committed ourselves to work intensively for a decarbonized future by signing the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, and we are also a signatory to the Paris Agreement – said Odzaklieska.
She added that the idea is to build a green economy from ecosystem services for which we have great potential.
- We have wonderful places to see, to offer excellent organic products and traditional food, as well as excellent opportunities for the promotion of ecotourism. We would like to see our local communities benefit from these processes because we truly believe that there is a way to make peace with nature and sustainably use our natural resources – said the Deputy Minister.
At the regional business forum, representatives from business, politics and civil society had the opportunity to discuss how the region will look in 2030 in terms of economic, political and social development.
