The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Kaja Shukova, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ljupco Nikolovski, together with more than a hundred volunteers from Skopje and Veles and from Brewery Skopje participated today in the mass environmental action “SONCEVA GORA”, within the framework of which, near Lake Mladost, north of Veles, 23 hectares or 50.000 trees were afforested on state land.
The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning welcomed the initiative and emphasized that she is pleased with the fact that day by day we are developing healthy habits towards the environment.
“Now we are showing how with an innovative approach, creativity and the will to recycle the garbage of the past, a green future can be built. “Let’s plant the green future” – said Minister Shukova.
The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ljupco Nikolovski emphasized that by enriching the forest fund in the country, we ensure a healthier future for everyone.
“We preserve and develop our greatest natural wealth, which is the forests. We set ourselves a goal of afforestation of 1.200.000 seedlings, in 19 regions, at 36 locations across the country”.
The action is part of the ten-year environmental restoration project “ZELENA SONCEVA GORA” which is organized by “Man and Mountain” and is implemented together with the Brewery Skopje and Pakomak and the official partners Sparkasse Bank, Zero Waste, supported by the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and National Forests. The project includes an annual spring action for cleaning and waste selection “GENERALKA WEEKEND”, from which for every 10 kilograms of waste collected, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, as part of its afforestation program, dedicates a tree that is planted in November, to different locations, and these plantations bear the name “SONCEVA GORA”.
