The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha, together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Struga, Mendi Kjura, inspected the newly procured municipal equipment-part of the establishment of an integrated and sustainable regional waste management system.
In this phase of the project, which is being implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Municipality of Struga is receiving three waste collection trucks with a capacity of 12m³, two truck of 8m³, and one tipper truck, as well as 8,204 bins and 132 containers. Some of the equipment has already been delivered, while the rest will be delivered by October 2026, significantly strengthening the capacities of the public utility and improving service coverage in urban and rural areas.
As part of the visit, the Minister was also informed about the on-site progress of other investments in Struga supported by the Ministry – the construction of a new water supply network in the city and the Radozda-Kalista collector system.
Work on this key infrastructure, including today’s start of the construction of a sewage system in the village of Vranista, demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment for the citizens of the Struga region.
