Tirana, 18 February 2026 - Within the framework of the Ministerial Forum for Corridor 8 in Tirana, the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha, met with the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Albania, Sofjan Jaupaj.
At the meeting, Minister Hoxha emphasized the importance of joint coordination in the protection of cross-border areas and in the implementation of European standards for biodiversity conservation and addressing climate challenges.
He stressed that regional cooperation is key to ensuring sustainable development and to accelerate the European integration of the countries in the region.
The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection, natural resource management, waste treatment, as well as advancing joint projects within the framework of the European Green Agenda.
Minister Jaupaj expressed readiness to deepen institutional partnership and to implement concrete initiatives that will contribute to improving environmental quality and the quality of life of citizens in both countries.
The two ministers agreed that cooperation should be intensified through the exchange of experiences, joint projects, and coordination in regional and international forums, with the aim of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development in the region.
