Hoxha-Drexler: Germany’s support for the energy transition and the Green Agenda in the Balkans is a key pillar for a modern, decarbonized and resilient energy system

Skopje, 30 January 2026 The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha, today, at a working meeting with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Petra Drexler, expresses sincere gratitude for Germany’s continuous and strong support in the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.

Minister Hoxha emphasized that, at a time of serious global challenges, especially the energy crisis and climate change, this support is a key pillar for protecting vulnerable categories of the population, stabilizing the energy sector, and accelerating the transition to a modern, decarbonized and resilient energy system, for the benefit of the citizens of the Western Balkans and Europe.

Minister Hoxha emphasized that he welcomes Germany’s efforts to support the energy transition in the region, through close cooperation with the European Commission and European financial institutions, in order to strengthen investments in clean and sustainable energy.

That commitment was further confirmed at the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana, with the signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent for a Regional Climate Partnership between the leaders of the six Western Balkan countries and Germany.
