Skopje, January 12, 2026 The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Mr. Muamet Hoxha, held a working meeting today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the Republic of North Macedonia, Dr. Florian Qehaja, at which they discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of environment and physical planning.
During the meeting, Minister Hoxha and Ambassador Qehaja assessed the friendly relations and excellent cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of existing documents and joint initiatives, including the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Environment, the Economic Cooperation Agreement, as well as the regional initiative “A Joint Vision for the Sharr Mountain”, which aims the protection and sustainable development of cross-border protected areas.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of cooperation within the framework of the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, as well as the significance of major infrastructure and economic project that contribute to strengthening ties between the two countries.
At the meeting, a mutual interest was expressed in intensifying cooperation in the coming period, including the revision of the existing Memorandum between the two countries.
Hoxha and Qehaja reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection and preservation of natural heritage.
