Mejiti from Aračinovo: We Invest Where People Have Been Waiting for Years!

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Izet Mejiti, visited Aračinovo today on the occasion of the completion of the project "Regulation of a section of the drainage canal in Aračinovo." The project is fully financed by the budget of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, with a total value of 63.9 million denars.

This strategic intervention improves stormwater drainage for over 12,600 residents, increases the safety of populated areas, and protects agricultural land from flooding — not only in Aračinovo, but also in neighboring municipalities.

“I came here not only to mark the completion of a project, but to confirm that Aračinovo remains in the focus of our policies. We will continue with even more investments that bring better living conditions for all residents of this municipality, which has waited for years for such capital projects,” said Minister Mejiti.

The regulated part of the peripheral canal, 295 meters in length, restores its natural function. The canal, previously overgrown with vegetation and clogged with waste, has now gained new flow capacity, minimizing the risk of seasonal flooding.

In addition to this project, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning has invested another 93 million denars in just the past few months into nearly 20 projects for water supply, sewerage, and flood protection in Aračinovo. These include the construction of stormwater and wastewater sewerage in multiple branches of the village, regulation of the riverbed in Mojanci, Grushino, and Orlance, as well as pedestrian paths, sidewalks, and public space improvements.

“Significant infrastructure works are also being carried out here through the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Just recently, local streets and roads have been reconstructed with a value exceeding 53 million denars, reaffirming the Government's commitment to Aračinovo,” emphasized Mejiti, and concluded:

“As the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, we will continue to invest where it is most needed — so that every municipality becomes a place with quality conditions for a dignified life. Development must not recognize geographical differences — every citizen deserves support, investment, and a clean environment.”
