Skopje, January 2026 The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha held a working meeting with the Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Office in Skopje, Fatih Türkmenoğlu, during which current and future projects in the areas of waste management and water infrastructure were discussed.
The meeting focused on the Regional Solid Waste Management Project, which is being implemented with financial support from the EBRD, as well as the project for the construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant for the City of Skopje – one of the most significant environmental infrastructure projects in the country.
Minister Hoxha emphasized the importance of the partnership with the EBRD, noting that the Bank’s support plays a key role in establishing regional waste management systems, improving environmental quality and harmonizing with European standards.
The meeting also reviewed current activities, the dynamics of implementation, as well as open issues related to infrastructure projects, expressing mutual readiness to overcome them in a timely manner.
Both parties confirmed their commitment to continuing and deepening cooperation, with a focus on sustainable investments, environmental protection, and supporting North Macedonia’s green transition.
