The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of North Macedonia, H.E. Ms. Kawahara Setsuko, at which they discussed the promotion of bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
At the meeting, Minister Hoxha expressed gratitude for the long-standing and continuous support that Japan has provided to the country, especially through the cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He emphasized that this cooperation is an example of a partnership based on knowledge, innovation and the application of best international practices.
The Sustainability Study for the modernization of the collector system for Lake Ohrid, as well as the activities to improve the capacities of the treatment plant in Vranishta, were highlighted as significant projects of common interest.
Special emphasis was placed on Japan’s support at the local level through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), which directly contributes to improving living conditions and the socio-economic development of local communities.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to further deepening cooperation, both at the national and local levels, with a common goal – a healthy and sustainable environment and a better quality of life for citizens.
