Skopje, 25 February 2026 – The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Muamet Hoxha, today visited the Central Laboratory of the Ministry, where he announced a systemic and coordinated approach to addressing all institutional challenges.
He emphasized that a modern and functional Central Laboratory represents the foundation of effective environmental protection and a guarantee of accurate and timely data in the interest of public health. The aim is to ensure stable working conditions and the long-term strengthening of capacities.
During the visit, it was emphasized that the Laboratory has successfully renewed its accreditation for the next four years for a total of 20 methods, including one for measuring ambient noise and 19 for industrial wastewater and surface waters. What follows is the acceleration of the accreditation process for methods for measuring air pollution from stationary sources.
Additionally, during the visit, the new ICP-MS instrument was presented, which enables the analysis of heavy metals in soil, water, and air, and with which the analytical capacities of the State Environmental Laboratory will be significantly enhanced.
