Japan is interested in sharing experiences and investing in advanced technologies for environmental protection

At the meeting, the areas of the environment that are of mutual interest and the opportunities for the development of cooperation were discussed.

As a topic of conversation, the issue of the situation with Lake Ohrid, the collector system and the purification of waste water was opened. Ambassador Kazuya expressed his interest in supporting the protection of the Ohrid Lake ecosystem as a world good, through the exchange of experiences, access and application of innovative technologies, especially in the treatment of wastewater flowing into the Ohrid Lake.

Ambassador Kazuya also presented the Joint Credit Mechanism as a bilateral commitment of the governments of North Macedonia and Japan, which opens the possibility for investment by Japanese companies from the energy sector and the application of the most modern Japanese technologies for the reduction of CO2 emissions, and also the interest of a specific company to invest in photovoltaic systems was announced.
