MoEPP Strengthens Air Quality Management through European Experience

Dublin, Ireland – September 2026  As part of the European Union-funded project “Support for the Implementation of Air Quality Directives” (SMILE), from 14 to 18 September 2026, a delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of North Macedonia took part in a study visit to Dublin, Ireland.

The visit focused on the exchange of experience and good practices in air quality management, with emphasis on planning and implementing measures, monitoring, emissions control, and institutional coordination at national and local level.

The delegation, led by Deputy Minister Ane Lashkoska, included representatives of the MoEPP, the project team and the City of Skopje. Working meetings were held with the Irish Department of the Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Dublin City Council.

The visit also included an exchange of experience on sustainable energy and waste management practices through visits to key energy and infrastructure facilities, including Dublin Waste-to-Energy.

The exchange of experience with Irish institutions will contribute to further strengthening institutional capacities and improving the air quality management system in North Macedonia.

With the support of the European Union and through the exchange of European experience, MoEPP continues to build a more effective environmental protection system and implement concrete measures for cleaner air and a healthier environment.
