The Minister Nuredini at the Budapest Water Summit

SZIJJARTO_Peter fogadja Nasser_NUREDINI urat, Észak Macedónia környezetvédelmi és területrendezési miniszterét a KKM-ben.(17.10.2019г.) A delegation of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, led by the Minister Naser Nuredini participated in the Budapest Water Summit, which was held from 15 to 17 October in Budapest, Hungary. The central theme of these year’s Summit was to recognize the steps that are not sufficient to prevent the escalation of the water crisis as a natural resource that has a huge impact on our present and future.

During his stay in Budapest Minister, Nuredini held several official meetings at the highest level. At the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto was discussed about the support of Hungary for the Republic of North Macedonia to get a date for pre-accession negotiations as well as for a continuous cooperation in the field of environment protection with a particular emphasis on water management due to the fact that the Republic of North Macedonia and Hungary in 2015 have signed a Memorandum for Cooperation in the field of water management between the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Macedonia and the Ministry of Rural Development of Hungary.

Minister Nuredini met the Permanent representative of the Swiss Confederation to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Pio Wennubst with whom the discussions focused on the significant support by the Swiss Confederation for environment protection and water management as well as expansion of the same. A meeting was also held with UN – Water Vice Chair, Olcay Unver and UN Regional Food and Agriculture Regional Director Vladimir Olegovich Rakhmanin where was presented the environmental programme framework and opportunities for cooperation in the sector.

A meeting was also held with Mr. Kire Ilioski, Director in the Office of the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, discussing the activities of Republic of North Macedonia within the framework of UNECE Conventions. Also it was discussed about   the 3rd Environmental Performance Review prepared by UNECE experts in the relevant fields, which will be presented to the public in November this year.

At the Water Summit Minister Nuredini also visited the Fair where he made numerous contacts with the companies for innovative eco technologies.
